Overnight Oats
If you love a rich, chocolatey breakfast that still feels fresh and nourishing, these chocolate avocado banana overnight oats are about to become a favorite. The avocado blends right in, creating an incredibly smooth, creamy texture without any overpowering flavor, while ripe banana adds natural sweetness. Paired with cocoa and hearty oats, it’s a cozy, dessert inspired combo that feels indulgent but starts your day on a balanced note.
Serving Size: Two Jars
Ingredients
1 ½ cups rolled oats
1 scoop chocolate protein powder
3 tbsp chia seeds
1 cup chocolate almond milk
1 banana
1 avocado
4 tbsp pistachio cream (divided)
Directions
In a medium sized mixing bowl, add the oats, protein powder, chia seeds, and almond milk. Mix until combined. Set aside.
Add the banana and avocado to a food processor, mix until smooth. Add this mixture to the mixing bowl and combine everything.
To create a layered look, add half of the oat mixture to both jars, then add 2 tbsp of pistachio cream to each jar (do not stir), and top each jar with the remaining oat mixture.
Let the oats sit in the refrigerator overnight, or up to three days before eating.
When ready to serve, top with pistachios, and pecans, or walnuts and almonds or other optional toppings of choice.
Helpful Tips
I prefer rolled oats, but quick oats may be used as well for a softer consistency. Avoid using steel-cut oats, they will remain firm and chewy without cooking.
Pistachio cream adds a rich, slightly sweet, nutty flavor that pairs beautifully with the chocolate and banana, but if you don’t have it on hand, there are plenty of great substitutes. Almond butter, cashew butter, hazelnut spread or peanut butter would all enhance the flavor of the oats.
I used chocolate almond milk to enhance the chocolate flavor, but feel free to use whatever milk you have on hand and it will still taste delicious!
Make sure your banana is ripe, and your avocado is soft and ready to eat. This is what gives the oats their natural sweetness and ultra creamy texture. If the banana isn’t ripe enough, the oats can taste a little bland, and if the avocado is too firm, it won’t blend as smoothly and can leave a slightly chunky texture.
