These Cranberry Berry Bliss Oats combine sweet blueberries and blackberries with creamy vanilla protein oats and a homemade cranberry jam layer in the middle. The bright, tart cranberry adds a delicious contrast to the naturally sweet berry oats, creating a unique flavor combination in every bite. Layered together, these overnight oats are easy to make, satisfying, and a fun way to enjoy seasonal berry flavors.

Serving Size: Three jars

Ingredients

Berry Oats (Bottom & Top Layer)

Homemade Jam (Middle Layer)

  • 2 cups frozen cranberries
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 3 tbsp sugar replacement
  • 3 tbsp chia seeds
  • ½ tbsp honey

Directions

  1. Make the jam on the stove first. Add all jam ingredients to a medium size pot. Turn the heat to medium, you will want to keep a close eye on the jam, stir constantly. When it seems the berries are mostly cooked down, remove from heat. I recommend putting the jam in a bowl to help cool down faster and to prevent sticking to the pot. Add the chia seeds to the jam and mix it together.
  2. To cool the jam, leave it on the counter for 30 minutes, then place in the fridge for an hour before using in oats. While the jam is cooling make the oat mixture and place in fridge until ready to assemble jars.
  3. Berry Oats :  Add all berry oat ingredients to a medium sized mixing bowl, stir until combined. Set aside.
  4. Assemble the jars: To create the layered look, start by dividing half the oat mixture evenly between jars. Divide the cooled jam evenly. Top jars with remaining oat mixture.
  5. Let sit in the fridge overnight: Or up to five days before eating.
  6. When ready to eat: Serve with fresh fruit, granola, or nuts.

Sam's Kitchen Favorites

  • For this recipe, I used these 10 ounce overnight oat jars with lids.
  • I love these silicone mixing spoons. No more scraping the bowl, and the food doesn't stick to them!
  • My go-to angled liquid measuring cup . After multiple runs through the dishwasher, the numbers have not worn off.
  • For permanently engraved measurements, these measuring cups are fantastic!
  • For a more professional yet affordable mixing bowl, these stackable bowls with measurement marks work perfectly.
  • Acacia Wood Cutting Board. I use this board in many of my recipe photos to display my overnight oats. I love the warm wood finish because it creates a simple, natural background that helps the jars and layers of oats stand out. It’s also reversible and can be used as a cutting board, charcuterie board, or serving board, making it a versatile piece to have in your kitchen.

Helpful Tips

  • What type of berries should I use for the jam? For this recipe I used frozen cranberries. Frozen berries work really well for the jam because they break down easily and create a thicker, softer texture. Fresh blueberries and cherries will be just as amazing!
  • Jam Shortcut Option: While canned pie filling will work if you're short on time, I highly recommend making your own jam. It has a fresher berry flavor and creates a lighter breakfast with less added sugar than traditional pie filling. Plus, you can easily adjust the sweetness to your taste.
  • To make these oats dairy free: Omit the yogurt or use Silk yogurt instead.
  • If omitting yogurt: I like to add an additional mashed banana to maintain a creamy texture.
  • What types of oats are best? I prefer rolled oats, but quick oats may be used as well for a softer consistency. Avoid using steel-cut oats, they will remain firm and chewy without cooking.

Why You'll Love This Recipe

  • Sweet and tart. The blueberry and blackberry oats pair beautifully with the bright flavor of homemade cranberry jam.
  • Creamy and satisfying. Vanilla protein powder and chia seeds give these oats a creamy texture and help keep you satisfied for hours.
  • Unique flavor combination. Cranberry adds a delicious twist to the classic blueberry and blackberry combination.
  • Easy to customize. You can adjust the sweetness of the cranberry jam or use your favorite berries in the oat layers.
  • Perfect for meal prep. Prepare the jars ahead of time for an easy breakfast that's ready to grab from the refrigerator.
