These Halloween Overnight Oats bring spooky seasonal colors and delicious flavors together in one fun, layered jar. The bottom layer combines chocolate protein powder, black cocoa powder, and mashed banana for a rich chocolate banana flavor. The middle layer features orange-colored vanilla protein oats mixed with mandarin oranges for a bright citrus twist. To finish, a creamy blackberry and blueberry Greek yogurt layer adds a naturally purple topping that completes the Halloween color combination. This festive overnight oats recipe is a fun way to celebrate Halloween while enjoying a nutritious, protein-packed breakfast. Prepare the layers ahead of time, refrigerate overnight, and wake up to a colorful breakfast that's ready to enjoy.

Sam's Kitchen Favorites

  • For this recipe, I used these 18 ounce overnight oat jars with lids.
  • I love these silicone mixing spoons. No more scraping the bowl, and the food doesn't stick to them!
  • My go-to angled liquid measuring cup . After multiple runs through the dishwasher, the numbers have not worn off.
  • For permanently engraved measurements, these measuring cups are fantastic!
  • For a more professional yet affordable mixing bowl, these stackable bowls with measurements marks work perfectly.
  • Food Processor. I recommend this for quickly turning graham crackers into fine crumbs, chopping nuts, blending ingredients, making sauces, and so much more.
  • Acacia Wood Cutting Board. I use this board in many of my recipe photos to display my overnight oats. I love the warm wood finish because it creates a simple, natural background that helps the jars and layers of oats stand out. It’s also reversible and can be used as a cutting board, charcuterie board, or serving board, making it a versatile piece to have in your kitchen.

Helpful Tips

  • Customize the Orange Color. Add orange food coloring a few drops at a time until you reach your desired shade. The color may look slightly different once mixed with the oats.
  • Blend the Yogurt Until Smooth. Use a food processor to blend the blackberries, blueberries, and Greek yogurt into a creamy purple topping. Blend thoroughly for an even color.
  • Use Ripe Bananas. A ripe banana will mash easily into the chocolate oats and add natural sweetness to balance the rich cocoa flavor.
  • Adjust the Chocolate Color. Black cocoa powder helps create the dark bottom layer. Add a little more if needed to achieve a deeper color.
  • Dairy-free option: Use Silk yogurt , or make a homemade jam instead of a yogurt layer.
  • What type of oats are best? I prefer rolled oats, but quick oats may be used as well for a softer consistency. Avoid using steel-cut oats, they will remain firm and chewy without cooking.
